Mondrian Miami Beach hotel is like the Delano hotel (now being renovated) but like the cheaper version. It is like the Macbook Pro vs. Macbook Air. It is a lot cheaper than most of the boutique hotels, but you can even get it cheaper through Mondrian Airbnb. Let me show you how.
Location
Mondrian hotel is located on the bay side of South beach, so you can’t just walk 1 minute to the beach.
You can easily Uber or Lyft to the beach and it will take less than 5 minutes to Lincoln road, Ocean Drive or to the beach.
But you will get a nice view of the bay side. I mean who needs to go to the beach anyways to end up with sands all over you (unless you have a kid).

Style and Character
It seems like a five star hotel, but it is actually a four star hotel.
Mondrian hotel was the go to hotel for me (Also, when I stayed for a month) because of its reasonable price and the kitchen they had at every room.
Half of the hotel is a residential and the other half is a hotel, so you see not only residents but also tourists which made the pool so much more fun.
I used to go to the Mondrian hotel in London and Korea and the Mondrian Miami beach hotel is the most relaxed hotel.
You can easily walk in and out of the room and to the pool with just your swimsuit on (Unlike other hotels where you have to wear your top on to walk in the lobby).
It is very relaxing and easy going hotel, so if you are looking for a judgement free hotel, Mondrian hotel is the place.
You can also bring your pet (1 dog or 1 cat) up to 20 pounds for an additional fee of $100 per stay.
Facilities and Amenities
The heated outdoor pool is pretty big with sunbeds around the pool.
Some of the big hotels have so many sunbeds that you are so far away from the pool, but Mondrian hotel avoided it by having some sunbeds facing the bayside.
This was during the winter party where they filled up with pingpong balls which were really fun and cool
The gym is quite small with few running machine, a monster rack system, and some bench with dumbbells. Not the best gym, but not the worst either.
They also have a spa, but it is not that impressive. If you looking to go to spa I have a separate blog post with recommendations.

Each floor has their ice machine which I think it is not a big deal but a nice touch.
There is a bar and a restaurant inside Mondrian hotel, but it is also just ok. I always rather went out for breakfast at Whole Foods.
Also, there are few good restaurants around there from Oliver’s bistro to Gogo fresh.

Rooms
The good thing about staying at Mondrian hotel is that it has bigger rooms than most of the hotels on the beach side. But like I said before it is on the bayside area, so to get to Ocean Drive or Lincoln road can be a hassle.
All rooms have a kitchen and a washer, so if you are staying longer, it is a great option (And it was the reason I chose Mondrian hotel when I stayed for a month).
The room price ranges from $150 – $200. Compared to Delano hotel, it is a bargain.
But you can even get it cheaper than that. HOW?
You can book through Mondrian Airbnb.
Because Mondrian is half hotel, half residential, you can also use Airbnb. The front desk is not friendly when you go through Airbnb, but you can save at least $100 a night, and will be able to use the amenities. You will just have to use your card and can’t put it in your room. But it is a bargain for a little inconvenience. Just look through Airbnb map in the Mondrian area, and you will find the pictures that look like Mondrian (check out my images as a reference).
