Why ONLY These Public Toilet Bar and Restaurant Matters

One of the things that always surprises me is that how many people in London are peeing on the street of Soho at night. Especially around Soho square.

The real public toilet

I guess naturally they build a lot of public toilets around London to stop peeing on the street. I like the portable ones, but I really love the underground public toilets, because it’s unique and pretty (I know I sound weird saying this lol).

Me at the public toilet at Camden Town. It is really cute with the gentleman sign

But some of these beautiful public bathrooms closed down and transformed into bars and restaurants. Some gutted the whole place and made it something new and some kept the facade of the public toilets.

When it’s totally gutted and really doesn’t have the feeling of a public toilet, and I don’t see a point of traveling to go experience the uniqueness of drinking or eating at a public toilet.

I think if you trying a public toilet for food and drinks, the interior should have kept its spirit with the public toilets. I went to few of them, and this is my list and honest opinion about these public toilet bars and restaurant.

Attendant Fitzrovia

This cafe/ brunch restaurant really kept the soul of public toilet. The exterior will catch your eyes if you are just passing by. I go to the gym near Attendant and I always wondered what it was.

The kept the vibe of public toilets with black metal railings but made it more fabulous with fancy railings and flowers. If it were still a bathroom, you would think the bathroom would smell like roses.

After Googling I realized it was a cafe and breakfast place. I had to try it.

The interior is a beautiful as the exterior. The cafe really kept the gentleman’s bathroom vibe with a mid century style potter loos. If you look the wall, you can even see the old cistern still attached to the wall.

The best part about this cute public toilet restaurant, Attendant, is that the food is excellent. I had bacon, egg and cheese which was superb. The coffee was nice and the service was really “attentive.”

I would love to go back if I have the time.

Bermondsey Arts Club

All the public toilet bars in London doesn’t really feel like the public toilets except the entrance. Almost everything was gutted to make the space bigger and maybe kept the tiles to have a feeling.

But I think Bermondsey Arts Club is closest to being the public toilet bar in London.

The only thing that feels like the bathroom is the entrance with black railings and white tiles, but other than that, it is just a cool and chic cocktail bar.

CellarDoor

Cellar Door is another example of a public toilet bar that just kept the entrance like a public toilet.

However, they built their bathroom with a very chic transparent door. You can see inside the bathroom before you close it, and when you close, it tints the bathroom for privacy. You can see what I mean by it on my vlog.

That is not COCAINE! It is like a fake snuff.

Even thought it has lost the whole vibe of being a public toilet, it is one of the bars that I loved. It felt like one of those bars in New York (like Duplex). They have shows at 9:30 PM and it was a blast!

I think it’s a great bar to go, but don’t expect to be a real public toilet bar. I mean it is renovated from a toilet bar, but doesn’t have the whole vibe of being a public toilet bar.

Ladies and Gentleman

This is another bar that just kept the entrance like a toilet bar, but the inside doesn’t really feel like one. I haven’t been but the instagram pictures look cute. Please let me know if anybody had a chance to visit this cool public toilet bar.

So, The Best Public Toilet Bar or Restaurant Is:

Attendant Fitzrovia

I think Attendant Fitzrovia kept the whole vibe of public toilet bar/restaurant very well. If you want to experience eating at a public toilet, Attendant Fitzrovia is where you should go.

If you are looking for a great cocktail bars, all the above is a great place to go, but don’t expect a soul of public toilet bar.
