The Best Churchill War Rooms Discount Ticket (feat. How to Skip the Line)

What do I know about Churchill. Basically nothing, but I had a Churchill War Rooms Discount ticket(?), so I just went for the sake of it, and ended up staying too long.

I know there are some tacky mannequins, but overall I was quite impressed. But I am not sure if you have to pay the full price.

So here how to get the Churchill War Rooms Discounts and everything else.

Churchill War Rooms Price

Churchill War Rooms price isn’t cheap. Actually, price has gone up since last year (you would think with covid they would lower price but didn’t). This the new 2021 ticket price

  • Adult (16 – 64) : £25
  • Chile (5 – 15) : £12.50
  • Chile (under 5) : Free
  • Concessions (65+, Students, Disabled) : £22.50
  • Personal Carer : Free
  • IWM Member : Free

I don’t want to sound cheap but make sure to check the ticket price before you pay.

They will add 10 % voluntary donation. Make sure to buy the “tickets excluding voluntary donation.” Unless you want to donate of course.

Skip the Line

If you buy it full price, you will be able to use the “Churchill War Rooms Skip the Line.”

Yes. There is a line for who paid the full price and not.

So if you don’t like waiting it is better off paying the full price.

You can buy it through their website but currently Get Your Guide is 3 pounds cheaper than the official site (including skip the line).

Klook is 2 pounds cheaper. But always check all the sites because they often do have promotions.

With Skip the Line tickets, you don’t have to worry too much about the long line, so you can go the Churchill War Rooms anytime (It does get long during peak season in the afternoon too though).

But with discounted tickets, timing is crucial. You can be waiting for 30 minutes or 3 hours.

Opening Time

ALWAYS GO 30 minutes before the opening time.

  • Summer Month (July 1sts – August 31th) : 9:30 – 19:00 (Last Entry 17:45)
  • Winter Month (Sept 1st – June 31st) : 9:30 -18:00 (Last Entry : 17:00)

There will still be lines (not surprisingly) before the opening, but at least you are guaranteed to just wait 30 minutes.

So, if you are getting the discount ticket, please go there early!

Then you will save the money on skip-the-line but also get a cheaper ticket.

Churchill War Rooms Discount

There are several ways to get Churchill War Rooms discount, and here are the most popular and easiest ones to get.

London Pass

London pass allows you to pay a fixed price and go to 80+ attractions in London for 1 / 2 / 3 / 6 / 10 days.

When I first came to London, I used London Pass to get into Churchill War Rooms.

If you manage your time and plan the route right, you make your money worth. I saved about 50 pounds on tickets and it is easily doable.

I wrote a separate post about getting a discount on London Pass, so you can check it out below.

Explorer Pass

Explorer Pass is like London Pass, but for people who wants to enjoy the attractions.

Because London Pass is set with time, if you can you can literally go to 20 different attractions in a day. But what is the point really?

Explorer Pass is the opposite. With a fixed price you can go to 2 / 3 / 5/ 7 attractions.

This is actually more relaxing if you don’t have to hit all the attractions (My friends AND I enjoyed this more than when I did London Pass myself).

2 for 1 Discount with National Rail

I am not sure how many people will actually buy the National Rail ticket, but if you do the ticket includes Churchill War Rooms discount voucher.

It can be useful because it included 150 London attractions, so might as well check my related post.

Tourists over age 60 / students / disabled people with valid ID will get a discount of £17.60 per ticket.

There are few other discounts but are mostly for locals like National Art Pass that gives you 50% discount, but I doubt you would be applied for it.

Churchill War Rooms Time Needed

The war rooms are the real actual war rooms, so it feels a bit cramped and small.

So staying too long didn’t feel comfortable every time I went. So, I usually took about an hour and half, but I hear most people spend about 2 hours and more.

I could have easily done it in less than an hour as well, but they have and audio guide, so by the time you listen to the audio and go through the rooms, time flies.

And you realize you were in there for 90 minutes.

If you want to know a little bit more about the history, I think this is a great article.

I read this before and helped a lot to navigate and make the rooms more interesting.
