Top Korean Corn Dogs in London and Not so Best Ones

I, never in a million year, thought Korean corn dogs would become this popular.

Korean corn dogs were something I would just eat it only when I was at an amusement park or Myeongdong (it is a town equivalent to Leicester Square). It was never something that was popular, but more like it was there. You know like the Churros at fun fairs.

But suddenly in 2020, these Korean corndogs became a sensation. People lined up in New York for four hours when they first opened. And now in London, there are at least 3 Korean corn dog shops.

I was able to try most of them, let me tell you what I think of it.

What Makes Korean Corn Dogs Special

You might wonder though, what makes Korean corn dogs special.

There are few differences between the American corn dogs and Korean corndogs which makes it more unique and tasty.

  1. Instead of corn batter, Korean corndogs are used with sweet flour batter and panko which makes it more crunchy.
  2.  The fillings can be almost anything from sausages, cheese, spam, rice cake, fish cakes and more (More about this later)
  3. Before deep fry, french fries, cornflakes or potatoes were added on the batter
  4. At the end it is coated with fine suger
  5. There are normally ten different sauces you can put it on.

It is not just a fast food, you really need skills to make it.

If you watch below, you can see the process.

Bunsik London

This is the only Korean Corn Dog shop that specialises in corndogs.

It imitates the most popular Korean corndog shop, Myungrang Hotdogs (Now they are planning to open in London as well).

If you want to get an update on the opening date on Myungrang Hotdog, please subscribe to my blog. I will let you know!

I have criticized on my related pos how Bunsik London really is not what they say they are.

But in terms of corndogs, it is closest to what you would have in Korea.

They don’t have a physical shop and you have to pre-order online to pick up (click here to order).

It is few pounds more expensive than Bunsik.

But as a corndog itself, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, it is halal.

Also, their corns were really good.

Tayer + Elementary

Tayer and Elementary is the second best cocktail bar in the world. At the bar, they serve small dishes and they have an unique corndogs.

It is not necessarily Korean corn dogs, but it was so gourmet I wished I had 10 of them.

Horang-i & Masigo

I haven’t been to Horang-i, but many people on Tiktok commented that Horangi is really good as well.

Another new addition to Korean corn dogs is Masigo

If there is anybody who tried it, please let us know and share your thoughts!
