Stew Army Is a Restaurant That Is Making Apgujeong Rodeo Street Cool Again

Apgujeong Rodeo Street is dead. But with new and chic Apgujeong restaurants opening, the street is becoming popular.

I will start filling up my blog with best Apgujeong restaurants, but today I want to talk about Army Stew.

Apgujeong Restaurants are making Rodea Street cool again & the new addition is Stew Army

One of my favourite Korean dish is Army Stew (부대찌개). And my favourite place in Apgujeong-dong is  Geumseong Steak Budae Jjigae.

Army stew with extra ramen at Geumseong Steak BUdae Jjigae (OMG, I used to take horrible pictures lol)

But with Stew Army, I might be changing my favourite restaurant in Apgujeong. First thing first, let’s talk about the location.

Stew Army (스튜부대) Location

Stew Budae is on Apgujeong Rodeo Street. You can get the Bundang Line and get off at Apgujeong Rodeo station exit 5.

Adress: 16 Seolleung-ro 155-gil, Sinsa-dong

Even with many hot and new restaurants on the street, Stew Budae stands out because of its uniqueness.

Stew Budae entrance feels more luxury than a comfort food restaurant

Army Stew is a very common dish you can get in Korea, but not the Stew Budae’s Budae Jjigae. Why?

Stew Budae Menu

Compared to the normal Budae Jjigae (Army Stew), the difference is the Stew Budae’s army stew is tomato based or creamy based (Rose).

The menu is simple :

  • Tomato Stew Budae : 10,500 won
  • Rose Stew Budae : 10,500 won
  • Regular Stew Budae : 9,500 won
  • Tomato Jeyukbokkeum (Spicy stir-fried porkbelly) : 18,000 won

Because where the restaurant is, Stew Budae interior has more of a cafe / luxury vibe than a street food style vibe.

They even pour the stock into the pot in front of you (It is very unusual thing to do unless you want your soup refilled).

The restaurant even uses an expensive looking induction instead of portable gas.

The grey circle is the induction for the Budae Jjigae

The most important part when ordering Army Stew is that you have order ramen as a side dish. It is a must.

There are other side dishes :

  • Ramen : 1,000 won
  • Ham & Sausage : 6,000 won
  • Ham : 5,000 won
  • Sausage : 5,000 won
  • Tofu : 2,000 won
  • Rice : 1,000 won

Because of its unique twist on the soup base, it feels slightly different than a normal Army Stew.

It isn’t just spicy but also has a sweet and sour taste. For some reason, the soup didn’t feel too heavy.

If it is your first time trying Budae Jjigae, I would recommend   Geumseong Steak Budae Jjigae, but if this isn’t your first time I would highly recommend Stew Budae.

It definitely is a dish you can only try at Stew Budae.
