Best Area to Stay in Key West (feat. Top hotels Near Duval St.)

Keywest is only a small town, but if you choose a wrong hotel you will be in constant pain with noise, parking and sweaty walking. So, let me tell you the best area to stay in Key West for your piece of heaven.

Duval Street is where all the fun and parties happen, but you DO NOT want to book your accommodation on that street. Rather you should be booking near Duval street where you can easily walk but avoid the noise at night.

Also, booking on Duval St. can be a big headache if you bring your car to Key West.

So I highly recommend booking your hotel away from Duval st but in between White St and Whitehead St.

You can go beyond Trueman Ave (Horizontally), but it did seem quite far especially if you are booking towards White St.

If you book a hotel towards white st, you will have to walk about 15 minutes to Duval St.

I booked my hotel on White St and Fleming st, and it was perfect for me, because there was a free shuttle that took me to Duval st.

If you are someone like me who doesn’t like walking too much, try to book a hotel near the shuttle stops 🙂

Best 5 Star Hotels in Key West, Florida

I think going to Key West is to party wild and rest peacefully. So it is important to find a good 5 star hotels in Key West.

The only problem is that there are no 5 star hotels, and I am sorry for misleading.

So we will have to settle for 4 star hotels.

Most of the hotels in Key West can be outdated and damp, because it is a small island. Even brand hotels like Hyatt hotel can have that feeling.

So after doing my thorough research on Google, Booking, Agoda, Tripadvisor reviews, I concluded to these hotels.

There all have almost perfect score on reviews, and also very close to Duval St.

Simonton Court Historic Inn and Cottages

It is both short walk to the beach and Duval St., but away from the noise.

The hotel is renovated from a 1800 old factory, and it really has a calming vibe overall.

The best part is that is is only adults hotel, so you really rest in peace.

The Gardens Hotel

It is only a block away from Duval St, but still really quite like you are in a forest.

If we go on a vacation to a beach or cottages, it always have that heavy damp feeling, but Gardens hotel doesn’t have that feeling.

Also the owners are always present to make sure everything is running well and nice.

The Saint Hotel Key West Autograph Collection by Marriott

OK. I was debating if I should put Hyatt Centric of Marriott, but decided to go with Marriott due to close proximity from Duval St.

Both hotels do have tiny rooms and tiny pools but we know by the brand name it is a safe choice.

A lot of Key West hotels are family owned hotels rather than a big chain, so it can always be a hit or miss.

But with Marriott or Hyatt, we know we will at least get a comfortable bed and good turnover (Not that it is guaranteed though)

This is why I put it on the list. If you wanna play safe, try Hyatt Centric of The Saint Hotel Key West Autograph Collection by Marriott.

There are also few hotels I wanted to put on the list, but didn’t are Marquesa Hotel, Opal Key Resort & Marina

  1. Stayed at the Hyatt. Expensive but gorgeous. We justified the price by being able to walk everywhere right out the door. We figured that it’s cheaper on the other side but would always be paying for taxis or wait for a shuttle

    1. I have Hyatt points just for that hotel. Although, I wasn’t able to use those points when I wanted and they wanted to charge me $800.00 a night plus resort fees. Crazy expensive!

  2. We stayed at Margarittaville Resort. It was nice and the staff were as well. It was near several restaurants and shops.
