1. Daedo Restaurant (대도 식당)
Daedo restaurant is one of the most respectful and well known Korean BBQ restaurant in Korea. It has been around for more than 50 years. They are known for using fresh Korean beef (Hanwoo).

Long story short, the owner of Daedo restaurant has sold the restaurant for a wopping 20 million dollars. So, the run down shack looking restaurant is now all renovated to a clean restaurant.
I am a bit sad that it has lost it’s character a bit, but I am sure it is more sanitary. They also started opening chains and I went to both the original and the chain, and it is all good with still the top quality hanwoo.
Their selling point is the strong spicy scallion, and once you try it you will be asking the lady for five more times.

2. Kanghodong Baekjeong
At this point, Baekjeong is a global restaurant that opened in New York, L.A. and some parts in Asia. Kanghodong is a famous famous wrestler turned top comedian in Korea. He was known for eating like a mad man. If you watch Korean Entertainment Shows, you will definitely know who he is.
It was about time he opened his own restaurant. When it opened, the line was insane (and it is still in New York that sometimes you have to wait two hours). I went to the one in Myeongdong with a voucher from Klook because it was 3 dollars cheaper online.

Jungyook restaurant is more of a “type” of restaurant. The restaurant is connected to a butcher shop. You will be able to choose your own meat and bring it to the restaurant. The rest is the same. But some restaurants will charge you seating fee with unlimited side dishes. Not a bad deal! and you get to choose your own meat.
My favorite one is in BangeDong, near Jamsil. It is really clean and the service is top notch. I know it is a little bit out of the most tourist attraction and not easy to get to. So please let us know below comment your neighborhood, and we will ask our local friends for other recommendation.

4. SeMaul Restaurant (새마을 식당)
This can be controversial among Koreans. It is a famous chain made to look like the old Korean BBQ restaurants. It is opened by a very famous chef, Mr. Paik. He is like the Korean version of David Chang (wait. David Chang is also Korean lol). It is a reasonably priced restaurant where you don’t have to break your account.
Their food is heavy and homey. I love it cause the interior gives you comfort of the oldness. And the food is heavenly! If you are on a budget and want to try something Korean, this is the place. They have multiple places and please let us know if you are looking for something closer to your home.
