If you visit Hell’s Kitchen in NY you go to Duplex and you feel you have found the hidden New York and you go to Liverpool and you go to Cavern Club to feel the traditional Liverpool. Well, I ended up going to Mathew’s st where the Cavern Club is while I was staying at the Beatles Hotel. The street is packed with musicians, Scousers, locals and tourists all sharing drinks’ tales and TALL stories – Scousers love story telling, talking, drinking – its the Irish roots of many . It makes you shake your toots toots .
When in England You Try Fish and Chips
But where do you try this great British tradition ? I had the luck to hang out with born and raised Liverpool locals (8 brothers and one sister) here in town and went to all the places where locals would go, and here are the places where we drank and ate. It’s not flash expensive places but fun lively good interesting local places. Here you go for the best restaurants and bar in Liverpool
EATS
DINNER AT 60 HOPE ST
Hope St has become one of the best street in Liverpool because of the Cathedral, universities in the area, Liverpool Philharmonic and the restaurants/bars on the street. Especially, Thanx to you, Gary Manning who took over the street and built amazing restaurants. 60 Hope St is one of it, and you can get a fizz and chips. Yas, Champagne and chips sir. Two of my favorites, fried food and liquor!! You will be delighted.
DINNER AT LE QUATER
This is also a part of the 60 Group (60 Hope st) and they serve delicious fresh made pastas! I had a Carbonara pasta and New Yorker pizza. Personally, I feel the pizza was better than the pasta. I usually prefer a long cut pasta, but it came with rotini which I don’t like much. But well, it is just my personal taste.
LUNCH AT GOOD CATCH
If you are in England and you don’t try fish and chips, (I am going to say it) you are stupido! It is a country of fish and chips, and every block you will see one. After trying so many fish and chips, I realized Good Catch is one of the best. So crisp and fresh, and the batter wasn’t thick or greasy . And the curry sauce was so rich and thick, I wish I have bought a bucket. And yes, they charge extra for curry sauce but it is definitely worth it!
I haven’t tried but Mr. Halewood recommends Pudchka and Chaophraya both are really good as well. Please leave us a comment if you have tried. We would love to know!

BARS
Let’s Bar Hop Hop Hop
These are the bars I loved! but the Slaughter House was something. More rough on the edge, sticky floor with a layer of beer and getting wasted FUNDAY SUNDAY. If you liked Cavern Club, you should also try Slaughter House! But also try
The Philharmonic Pub
The Philharmonic Pub is right next to the Liverpool Philharmonic and it’s been around the block since 1873, It has a classic deco and a feeling of old England. I haven’t tried the food, so am not sure if the food is good, but the drinks are excellent. If you are going for a concert at the Philharmonic, you should definitely stop by here and have a drink!

McGuffie & Co
I love a small bar with amazing cocktails, and McGuffie is like that. A small bar, nice cocktails and lovely bartenders. On the wall, it shows the history of the street and the building with pictures and description. You should try it on the weekdays and relax rather than go on the weekends as it gets super packed! It would be hard to order a good cocktail and sip on it. I went back on the weekends and ended up just ordering vodka tonic as it was too busy and crowded.
Carriage Works
Old Blind School
Old Blind School has different musicians every day. It was one of my favorite restaurant/bar cause the singer was amazing and also cute . His name is Sam Westhead, and you can look him up here.
By the time I was at The Restaurant Bar & Grill, I got too drunk to take pictures. But if you are bar hopping, you have to end your night at Super Boudoir, cause you will have a good laugh with fun fun drag queens. YASS QUEEN
