When Bunsik London opened this month, it blew up the restaurant! It sold 5,000 Korean corn dogs over the weekend. You can just tell how popular Korean corn dogs are right now.
But I have an issue with how they call themselves Bunsik (분식).
btw, I am doing a series on Youtube on Taste the World without Leaving London, and on Korea’s episode I go to Korea and you can check out me showing around Bunsik London.

Bunsik (분식) London
Bunsik (분식) in Korea means flour based food. But nowadays Bunsik means more like where you can quickly eat and go type of foods.
It doesn’t limit to Ddukbokki but also ramen, tonkatsu, noodles, soups to anything that you can make it quick. The most famous Bunsik restaurant in Korea is probably Kimbab Heaven (김밥 천국).
There are few restaurants that are Bunsik restaurants and I will make a list soon.
What Bothers Me with Bunsik
Bunsik, however, is more like a Korean corndog restaurant that sell Ddukbokki and cupbab.
Bunsik London resembles more like Myungrang Hotdog restaurant in Korea Bunsik restaurants like Kimbab heaven.
I know most people won’t even care, but as a Korean, it just bothers me that they don’t have a bigger menu. I would want to sit down and have a quick ramen and kimbab. Not just Korean corn dogs.
That is why I think the name of the restaurant is misleading.

But don’t get me wrong.
I still loved how Bunsik was able to introduce that Korea food is more than Korean BBQ.
The open kitchen feels like a fancy Korean Pojangmacha which is basically a street stall based under a tent.
Bunsik London Korean Corn Dogs
Nonetheless, Bunsik is the only physical restaurant that specialises in Korean corndogs.
There are few more Korean corn dog restaurants and you can find it below.

Like I said before Bunsik feels more like the popular Korean corndog shop, Myungrang Hotdogs (Now they opened in Korea as well).
Maybe I just had high hopes for the Bunsik restaurant, but compared to Myungrang Hotdogs in Korea which has a wide range of corndogs menu, Bunsik London lacks in that department.
Bunsik Menu
Corn dogs are the most popular dish on the menu. I haven’t seen any people actually order other dishes like Cupbap.
That sweetness combined with the saltiness is the reason Korean corndogs became so popular, and compared to other corn dogs in London Bunsik corndogs are the closest thing you can get it Korea.
* Bunsik London is now partially Halal with Potato Mozzarella, Cheese & Cheese, Beef Hotdogs.
