Bike Ride from Crosby Beach Iron Men to Freshfields Liverpool

Liverpool is a great city with deep history of Beatles and Titanic. So naturally there are many things you can do related to Beatles of Titanic. But there are more to that. If you go out of the city centre, you can encounter the beauty of nature and the calmness of the beach.

This is something that you can do if you are staying in Liverpool more than one night. You can ride a bike from Crosby beach where you can see tens of Iron Men to the Nature Reserve in Freshfields. You can easily rent a bike at the Bike & Go  from the station.

You need to first sign up for Bike and Go which is 10 pounds. And then you can rent up to 2 bikes for 3.8 pounds for 72 hours. You can look up more about Bike and Go here

Here’s My Bike Route in Liverpool:

1. From Liverpool Moorfields Station, take a train to Southport. Ask the station clerk for a ticket.

2. Get off at Crosby Station, get your bike. Make sure to check if there are enough bikes at the station (Click here).

3. Go towards the Crosby beach, and you will see the board walk. There you can see statues standing on the beach. It is called Iron Man, and you will see it all along the beach. If the tide is in, you won’t be able to take pictures with the statues.

4. Follow the map I created. You will go through a nice park, and end up in Hightown hotel. I took a break and had a beer. Also played some pool and used the bathroom.

5. You will go through this narrow alley way which is beautiful. It is near the army base but you cannot see a thing because it’s covered with trees and flowers.

6. You will then get to Formby station where you can take a break at the beer station, a small micro brewery.

7. Now you will go through the beautiful Nature Reserve. You can see the pictures below!

8. After that you will get to Fisherman’s Rest where you can rest and have another beer.

9. Now you will ride another five minutes and get to Gusto’s Italian. Always make sure to make a reservation as it always gets full and hard to get a table here.

10. Take the train from Southport back to Liverpool. You can either drop off your bike at the Moorfields station.

This was a great experience to see the small towns of Liverpool and drink beer along the way. I also felt the warmth of the people in Liverpool! If you get a chance, please try it, and if you did, please let us know below comment!
