Han Kang London is a Korean BBQ restaurant, but on the second floor there is a Korean style pub. That is what we will talk about on this post.

Han Kang London

Above Han Kang London there is a pocha. Pocha basically means a pub in Korea.

It is were young students and salary-men come and drink after school or work. It is normally cheap, cheesy and tacky.

You can find it everywhere like you see pubs in U.K., but not much in London.

But recently there was a Korean style pub that opened which is called Hongdae Pocha

It opened with a bang that there is a que almost every day.

They claim to be the very first pocha in London, but actually there is Han Kang pocha.

Han Kang London doesn’t have that trendy retro Korea vibe with blasting K-pop music, but they have the best food.

Hankang Pocha Menu

Unlike Hongdae Pocha, Han Kang Pocha has an extensive menu.

Even though the menu is extensive, opening at 1991, Han Kang Pocha pretty much mastered their dishes over time.

When you go to a pocha, most people will order Korean hot pot dishes like Budae jjigae (army stew) or Gamja Tang (pork backbone stew) with a side of a la carte dishes like “Fish Dishes” or “Sharing Dishes” on the menu.

I don’t say this easily, but most of their sharing dishes and fish dishes are famous among Koreans.

Especially :

  • Yang-Yeom Chicken (Korean fried chicken)
  • Bossam (Boiled pork with vegetable) : It is not easy to find a good one in London
  • Jokbal (Pig’s Trotters and Shank cooked) : I think Han Kang is the only restaurant that does this
  • Golbaengi Somyun (spicy welks with vegetable and thin noodles)
  • Pan Fried Mackerel
  • Champong : Spicy seafood noodles  (Chinese-Korean style)
