Hongdae Pocha
Hongdae Pocha is not a Korean BBQ restaurant, but rather a Korean style pub.
“Pocha” normally is where you get cheap drinks and food under a tent or outdoors when the weather is great. But nowadays it is also used as a Korean pub where they sell cheap soju and food.
There are actually many in New York or L.A, but not many in London.
The only one was Hankang where a lot of salaryman went after work.

Hongdae Pocha is probably the only one that is targeted towards younger generation and k-pop fans.
My Honest Hongdae Pocha Review
OK. When Hongdae Pocha opened I was so excited that we finally have some young energy Korean pub.

And YUP. They understood the assignment.
It is everything a Pocha (Korean pub) should be :
- Hole in a wall style interior with scribbles on the wall (You can even scribble on the wall)
- Blasting Kpop music (from old to new)
- Nice cold soju
- the atmosphere is youthful and fresh, and it feels like typical indoor pocha-y
Menu
Ok, but what about the food at Hongdae Pocha?
Remember. This is a Korean pub where drinking is the main character. so there are more soup based dishes than others.
Below is the menu. What should you order though?
This is the only few place that sells Makchang (Pork Intestine). They have both in fried version (Makchang BBQ) and soup version (Makchanag Jeongol).
I prefer the soup version (Makchang Jeon-gol), cause you can make it into fried rice at the end.
If you are not into “exotic” dishes, Champong Jeongol is another popular dish. The manager told me this was the most popular dish on the menu. I haven’t tried it but please let me know below comment if you have!

Their fried chicken was pretty decent as well.
