I am not sure why I said dignity, but I think it is because I was watching the Netflix’s new series “Crown.” Please bear with me. I’m feelin’ a little almighty!

Chopped woods and fire place, the smell of the crisp fall and burning wood make you feel like home. Maybe not home – but cozy and warm even though when winter is heading towards us. I love fall cause after all that exhaustion from heat and diet from summer, you finally get a chance to hibernate and munch on that fried food. It makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. But I also love fall cause it is the time to wear flannel plaid shirts and trucker jackets. First, flannel shirts go well will fall and mostly it is extremely comfortable. FLANNEL SHIRTS

COLOR

Flannel check shirts are all about mix and matching colors. My favorite of course the black and red mix – I know it is boring but it makes you feel like fall has arrived – mix and matching with the color of the leaves. Also I love green/black and orange/black. Though, don’t be afraid of brightening the colors. Red and yellow works very well as well. Flannel Shirts Doesn’t Mean Plaid or Check, It Simply Means Soft Wool or Cotton

However, we think flannel shirts mean plaid/check, but in reality flannel just means shirt made from soft wool or cotton. People who push the lumbersexual look or the jacks in the mountains do actually wear plaid shirts often and it is associated with wood chopping in the woods. And in the woods where it gets chilly in the morning or night, soft wool and cotton is a must. Maybe that is why people started to call plaid shirt and flannel shirt interchangeably. FEEL

I think colors are important when you choose a flannel shirt, but I think the texture of the shirt is the most important criteria. It is fall/winter, so I would want to go for something warm and soft, but also heavy enough to protect the chill wind. For that reason, wool and cotton do the best to keep us warm and still comfortable and soft. I love wool or cotton, but I also love a mix of cotton and silk (J. Brand makes excellent flannel shirt with the mix). Because of the silk texture it is very soft and cause of the cotton, it keeps you warm. I haven’t seen it this year J. Brand making one, but let’s hope they will come back!

STYLE

Flannel shirts give a soft and warm feeling, and it is best to match it with jeans, but also black chinos go well. If you are looking for a relaxed look or for the office look, I think chino works and if you want to go for a macho lumbersexual trying to woo a boy/girl I would go for the jeans. However, how you wear a flannel shirt is totally up to you. You can even wear green or brown chinos.

I am wearing a flannel shirt from Opening Ceremony, and I love it cause it is made out of 100% wool and it is not thick but soft. I almost wore it everyday for a two weeks before we took pictures, or maybe I didn’t pack enough for the chilly weather

TRUCKER JACKET

Now let’s talk about trucker jackets. Levi’s not only mastered in denim jeans but also trucker jackets where many brands have followed. I like to wear trucker jackets during fall where it can keep you warm and still give you the rock and roll look. but because of denim’s rigidness, it is not comfortable as much as wearing cotton or cashmere.
