Koba London's Steak Tartar

Is Koba Korean BBQ NOT Better Than OLLE? (feat. Koba London Menu That Is Underrated)

Koba London is known for their Korean BBQ but I was more surprised with their a la carte dishes on Koba menu.

Hear me out.

Koba London

Koba London is in the rich area, Fitzrovia.

The interior gives a modern Korea with traditional touch that gives a luxury vibe. The restaurant is not big with servers very attentive.

Many London Korean BBQ restaurants

Most people go for the Korean BBQ at Koba. They have excellent quality meat

But the highlight is the a la cartes dishes.

The most famous dish is Yook Hwei which is the Korean version of Steak tartare

Not only the meat is fresh and tasty, they make it proper with Korean pear (year, Korean pear is different)

I ordered almost every a la carte dishes and Kangpung Saewoo (Kanso Saewoo on Koba menu) which is a sweet and spicy fried shrimp was my favourite.

They normally sell it at Korean-Chinese restaurants, but I was glad to see it at Koba.

There were few other Korean-Chinese dishes like Tangsooyuk and Kkanpunggi

Both of them were the dishes I would have it at Korean-Chinese restaurant in Korea, and it tasted just like that. Except the portions were a lot smaller and not a reasonable price.

Tangsuyuk (Korean Sweet and Sour Pork)
Kkangpunggi (Spicy garlic fried chicken)

Some of the other dishes I ordered were good. Maybe not the best I had, but it was pretty good.

Soondoobu
seafood Soondoobu (soft tofu soup)
side dishes
kimchi pancake. Many London Korean Restaurants can’t make a good Korean pancake (mostly soggy), but Koba London Korean pancake was cripsy!
Japchae – glass noodle dish which is my all time favourite

Is It Better than Olle London?

Olle London and Koba London both have a high end Korean BBQ vibe. So it is good for business meeting or a date if you want to impress.

Meat quality wise, I think Olle London is better in general. But there is a catch cause the meat quality can be good and bad. What do i mean? check my related post below.

But if you are going to order a la carte dishes as well, I think Koba is a great place. Koba menu London is more extensive and tastier than Olle London.
