Korean Fine Dining Has Arrived in London, But Is It Worth It?

Korean fine dining has become a huge trend in New York from Atomix, Kochi, Hortus and Jua. And I always wished we would have one in London.

I guess if you manifest the dream comes true. Korean fine dining restaurant has arrived in Notting Hill, London.

Korean Fine Dining

There are already many Korean fine dining restaurants in London where they pair global and Korean techniques to create unique and creatives dishes that speaks to Koreans and first time Korean food eaters like Gaon.

Then New York has made that into another level with their take as Korean Americans from Jeju Noodle Bar to Cote.

Funny thing is that these concept of mixing and fusing different techniques and culture into one dish is fascinating and creative. It is definitely expanding what Korean food is.

But in Europe, it seems like this type of concept is lacking even though London is like a super metropolitan city like New York. Cause I truly believed that it would do well in London.

And there is one.

Flat Three Restaurant

Flat Three restaurant is a Korean fine dining restaurant in Notting Hill, London.

I was excited to visit. The food was plated on one of the most beautiful dishes, but for some reason it was missing the sparkle and the joy on every dish.

It was like that 1% was missing on the dishes. It wasn’t definitely bad, but it wasn’t definitely memorable.

Also, with vegan dishes and meat dishes, it felt like the restaurant was trying to target for everybody.

I don’t know. I wouldn’t mind having a course menu with mostly meat with a mix of plant based Or go to a plant based restaurant. But this kind of mix was not the best idea.

I am sure it is still early on and leading the Korean fine dinging expereience, and I beleive they will be evolving with more tasty menu.

I hope we will be seeing a Ikoyi style restaurant.
