I know it sounds weird. But Mint Chocolate is the hottest thing in Korea. It is too hot now there is mint chocolate chicken. Again. I know it is weird.
Mint Chocolate
Mint Chocolate was created during the dessert contest in the 70s at the U.K. palace.
It was first released as an ice cream which is still popular now.
But because of its toothpaste taste, it has a love it or hate it relationship.
The people who love it call themselves Mint-Cho-Team, and it was becoming a thing online in 2020.
I am not sure if Son Heung Min is a mint-cho-team, but he sure has talked about it on twitter with his team.
Do you like mint chocolate?

The people who hate is call themselves THE Anti Mint-Cho-Team. And even BTS is on that team which I didn’t know.
I made a Tiktok video and the comments were about BTS.
@rollinjoint Reply to @markkky3 would you try mint chocolate Korean Fried Chicken ##koreanculture ##koreancultureshock ##koreanfood ##tiktokkorea ##kfood ##kfoodie ##민트초코
I googled a little bit and found someone actually made a collection of clips on BTS hating on this flavour.
I also personally don’t like chocolate nor mint, so I don’t see what is the hype of all this.
Popularity
Because of its popularity, Baskin-Robbins even brought back their mint choco ice cream.
In Korea, compared to 2019 the sales went up 60% due to the fans.
so naturally a lot of companies started to follow suit from almonds, cake and bubble tea.
Mint Chocolate Chicken
Then mint chocolate chicken happened.
Because of its on going popularity, they even made it with fried chicken.
It sounds absolutely gross, but because of oddness, it became a popular mukbang Youtube in Korea. You can watch it for yourself below.
And it didn’t just end there. There is even pasta and tonkatsu as well, and I wonder how far it will go.
If you go to a Korean Amazon, Coupang, you can find endless products.
I know some of it sounds weird and gross, but would you try it? Do you think there is a community of mint chocolate lovers?
I want to see if I should bring it here in U.K, and promote to people.
Please let me below comments on what you think.
I live in Korea and my friend found the mint almonds a few years ago. They are awesome! I’m a mint chocolate lover so I have really been enjoying this fad. For over a decade, I would check the ice cream section at convenience stores for mint chocolate only to be let down time and time again by the green leaf being green tea flavored ice cream. Still good, just a totally different profile. I will not pay for mint choco spaghetti or chicken though. If someone else pays for it, I’ll try it. I have a $5 limit on trying weird combinations. Chocolate Soda, raspberry ice cream oreos, coffee soda, tried them all. I recommend none of them!
