It’s been brutal in New York with the snow and the wind. It’s been so bad to a point we saw 4 car accidents within 6 blocks. Guys! really don’t drive when it’s snows like a maniac. But nothing will stop us from posting another blog about a hotel. More specifically boutique hotels and find out if we can call it “boutique.” We have chosen a brand new hotel William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg. If you want to read more about what boutique hotel means you can click here.
It has been upcoming in Greenpoint, verge-of-Williamsburg area when I moved to Williamsburg in 2008. However, nowadays, it almost feels like Williamsburg has become it’s own town where you don’t really have to go to Manhattan. From better Equinox, spacious apartments, Michelin starred restaurants and hotels, it feels like Brooklyn is taking over Manhattan. Feeling Lazy and just want to read what you want to read? LOCATION
If you walk to the end of Williamsburg, you will find few hotels from Wythe Hotel, Maccarren Hotel Williamsburg Hotel (under construction). But I want to talk about William Vale. If you walk around any part of Williamsburg, you see this Miami-vibe-white building. It is tall and unusual for Williamsburg, and that is William Vale Hotel. It feels like those luxury hotels on Collins ave in Miami, but only happened to be in New York. William Vale hotel is located on 111 N 12th St and you can check on the map below.
William Vale hotel is conveniently located in the hippest town in Brooklyn near L and G train
It is not like downtown Brooklyn or Time Square where all the trains are connected but it is still convenient as the train stations are not far from the hotel. You can walk 5 minutes to either G or L train. You can easily go to East Village, Union Square or Chelsea by L train or Queens or Brooklyn by G train. Or you can even take a ferry to Wall Street or Midtown. If you are hesitating to book a hotel in Brooklyn, DO NOT! You have plenty of options so don’t be afraid to book a hotel in Williamsburg, cause it could offer more from the room size, pools and affordable price. AND YES! It is a safe area!
LOBBY
As you enter the hotel, you can tell every lightings and decor were put with detail. The hotel tried to take into consideration that the neighborhood was warehouse-y using mangled car bumpers in the lounge. But don’t expect a dark divey looking hotel. With all the unusual glass tables, different chairs and flowers, it balances out. It gives you calmness but luxury. We received an email prior to our arrival that our room was ready with a spectacular view. We weren’t expecting any emails, and that was nice and welcoming. It is a tiny lobby compared to the size of the building (It is not like Ace Hotel where you can sit and enjoy a coffee).
ROOM
There was an emergency landing and delays on the flight to New York (ended up taking more than 8 hours to get to the hotel), and I couldn’t wait to go to the room and lie down. After we checked in, we were led to the elevator. The elevator art is provocatively saying “Come live with me.” And yes I would honey if I had the money.
William Vale hotel rooms are spacious and hip, but the balcony will give you the Oh My GAWD!
Before the pictures, this is a video review for your consideration. I did my best with editing not to bore you, so hopefully it will be ok to watch 🙂
The room is as it is. A balcony with seats, daybed and a comfortable bed. The balcony definitely would be the selling point for the hotel with an impressive views of Manhattan. You can get a champaign and drink, relax and watch the sunset. You know, how many people can actually do that in New York? So, we bought some vodka and started drinking on the terrace even it was freezing cold. fyi. if you think ordering room service for drinks are too expensive, there is a close liquor store called, Sherry Lehmann. We just bought our drinks there.
The windows are floor to ceiling and you can wake up in your bed looking at the sunrise or close the curtain sleep till 1PM. That is up to you 🙂 I always worry if the bed isn’t going to be comfortable or the sheets are going to be rubbish at a hotel. So I usually bring my own blanket and pillow, but because we had to carry so many stuff this time, I couldn’t pack my lovely blanket this time. But don’t you worry, cause the bed was so comfortable, and the sheets were soft like my skin.
BATHROOM
I have been to many hotels, and usually it is those little details that make guests happy or not. In the bathroom, the shower pressure was strong, the toilet didn’t make any sound when flushed but still cleaned it up (ya’ know). The closet was big enough for two people and it lit up when we opened it.
It is not a big issue, but the only thing I didn’t understand was why they didn’t put any robes or slippers. And I booked it for two and they kept on only putting one towel everyday and we had to keep on calling them to bring more towels. But I guess it is because they just opened and it is just a hiccup.
WESTLIGHT (ROOFTOP)
One of the reason I chose this hotel was the rooftop. I had a chance to go to the rooftop when they first opened during summer. Whenever I go to Wythe hotel, it takes my breathe away (not like “away”, but you know a gasp like this). But then William Vale hotel happened. It doesn’t take your breathe away, but it takes you to a different universe. I am a sucker for windows that totally slides where you can have indoors but still feel outdoorsy. And William Vale hotel has that.

The roof top at William Vale hotel is called Westlight. You can see the whole New York City and Brooklyn. It feels like the Miramax.
No matter. If the eye candy inside is too much, you can go outside. The guest rooms’ balconies are a major selling point for the hotel, with their impressive views of Manhattan. And like its hotel neighbors, the William Vale hotel invested a lot in turning its rooftop into a scene. That vista of the city’s skyscrapers glimmering over the river is, I think, the best way to see New York—for years, the Wythe was my go-to for showing out-of-town guests a good time. Now it has competition.
THE PROS
- The rooftop
- The balcony
- The pool (Only during summer)
- Flexible Check in
THE CONS
- Need cab(or subway) to go to the city
- Not enough towels, robes, slippers
- Needs more elevators
