South Korea Travel Requirements have been loosened. But you still need to prepare before you travel. It will not only save time but will make your stress level to the minimum.
The Korean government website (or American one) already has a clear instruction on what you need but I was still confused when I arrived in Korea.
So I just wanted to give you a bit more detailed information on things you should know before entering South Korea.
Entry Requirements to South Korea without Quarintine
Starting from April 1, 2022, vaccinated travellers can travel to Korea without quarantine.
You will need two shots (Johnson 1 vaccine) of Covid vaccine (valid between 14 days to 180 days) or three vaccine shots with no expiration date.
Also, before entering Korea You will need to fill out these forms below.
- You will need to fill out a Q-Code System after you get the negative PCR result (more about it later)
- Fill Out Korea Electronic Travel Authorization
- PCT Negative Result
April 2022 south korea pcr test requirement
You will need to have three tests.
- PCR test 2 days before departure (This is confusing, so I will write more about it later) : NAATs, RT-PCR, LAMP, TMA, SDA, NEAR etc.
- PCR test 1 day after arrival
- Lateral test 7 days after arrival
PCR Test 2 Days Before Departure
On the government website, it says 48 hours before departure. And this is confusing.

If you are leaving on April 10th 23:00, you can take a test two days before April 10th. So you can take the test on either April 8th or 9th.
If you have a child under 6, you need to have a proof that the child is negative.
PCR Test After Departure
After departure, the best way to get the PCR test is at the airport.
You can also do it at a designated testing centre in Seoul, but many places won’t speak good English and you might struggle to get it.
Lateral Test 7 Days after Arrival
I did my lateral test at home, but I didn’t send it to anybody and had no problem.
Tips on Going Through Immigration with Stress Free
Please print out Korea Electronic Travel Authorization and Q Code System Document (with your accommodation address on it, I didn’t have my address on the document it was a pain) and your negative PCR result.
For some reason, the immigration love papers than documents being on your phone.
Also, you have to go through two immigration kiosk. First is to check your documents. The second is passport control. Many people were getting confused, so I just want to give you a heads up.
