Best Places to Visit in Miami (feat. It is Not Just South Beach)

Back in the days best places to visit in Miami was just South Beach. But now with Miami becoming the new hot destination, there are more than just South Beach.

Wynwood

Wynwood is the most popular town among millennials and Gen Zs. There are literally 100s of murals where you can take amazing pictures.

Took 100 shots for this lol

Not only that there are amazing bars and restaurants that are actually good (you know where the real locals go, and not like a lot of tourist traps on South beach).

There are too many to name when you go just grab a Mojito from Mojito Company to KYU

It’s about 15 mins by cab from South beach but it’s well worth the effort.

Wynwood is also an outdoor museum – head for Wynwood Walls and take a look at the large scale art works .

Again Wynwood like Ocean Drive changes at night – it’s alive with young hip friendly people drinking , eating and dancing to the many street musicians- I love it here.

Bars and bistros stay open late and some of the clubs open all night – many have huge outdoor spaces for you to dance and mingle.

Another famous town next to Wynwood is the Design District. This is like the Rodeo Drive in L.A. where you can shop high end brands.

But either you spend all day shopping at Design District or Watch the murals and eat good food in Wynwood, OR DO BOTH, you SHOULD SPEND at least one day in Wynwood.

Little Havana

Little Havana is a must visit place. Not only you have to visit Versailles, for the best Cuban cuisine, but you have to visit Ball and Chain where you can join salsa dancing.

Versailles is probably the most famous Cuban restaurant in Miami.

Don’t get it twisted cause the name is not after French, but it is a city of the same name in Cuba.

Because of its popularity, you have to always wait an hour, but it is worth the wait.

The croquettes it awesome and the ropa vieja is juicy.

After Versailles, you should head to Ball and Chain for some salsa dancing. It is not something you will easily see in America.

When I went to Colombia, if there were music people would dance even if it’s a small alleyway at a restaurant.

This was not different. People were dancing everywhere. And not just young. Young, Old, Gay, Lesbian, you name it.

But the best part is to learn the history of little Havana.

With more individual tours becoming popular, Little Havana became one of the best places to visit in Miami to learn the history.

There are 100s of tours you can do and I did with and loved it.

I have done some research on Klook, Get Your Guide, Viator and Trip. Among all one of Viator had more than 1000 reviews with literal 5 stars.

I had to try it and it was a blast. If you are visiting Little Havana, I must highly HIGHLY recommend to this experience.

Lincoln Road

Lincoln Road is like the Time Square of New York. There are many souvenir shops and tacky restaurants.

It’s never very busy during the day so it’s easy to look around and buy some souvenirs to take home and take a look at how the mannequins are so different in the Miami shop windows – take a look you will know what I mean!

Lincoln is also packed with restaurants and bars – it’s great at night to people watch here as most of the dining is outside under the stars! But not the best food.

For a great view of Miami go to the rooftop at Juvia it’s at the far end of Lincoln – have a drink and admire the view.

The food is good here also but not always easy to get a table . A lot of celebs go here – Katie Perry was here when I last visited.

You can’t wear open toe sandles here so wear something different! Lincoln also has a great cinema if the weather changes and you want to be in doors.

Ocean Drive

Miami is such a cool place so many things to do and see in Miami- most people as soon as they arrive in Miami head to the amazing Ocean Drive which is right opposite the beach.

And for me, this is one of the best places to visit in Miami.

Ocean Drive is famous for the beautiful Art Deco hotels that have featured in many movies.

If you walk along a night you get a feel for the amazing vibe and diverse culture here you will also walk past the Versace mansion where tragically Versace died from stab wounds from a crazed stalker.

People watching and sunbathing- nothing better in Miami . The ocean is clear blue – the waves can get large which adds to the excitement.

All the hotels have beach bars and chairs on the beach or you can sit in many of the public areas or hire a bed for around 5 dollars.

Brickell

Brickell is a relatively new part of Miami.

It is like the wall street of Miami where finance offices area all here. I know it sounds like not one of the best places to visit in Miami, but it is surprisingly a fun place to visit for food.

Take a cab over the bridge and jump out on Brickell Ave – there are so many little bars, shops and restaurants here take a wonder.
