Let’s talk about how to get the most beautiful Tongyeong beach in Bijin Island.
Tongyeong Bijindo
When you go to Tongyeong, you have to go to the small islands.
There are 100s of small islands in Tongyeong, and all of them have their unique charm.
But Bijindo definitely is the best island.
Bijindo is two island connected with the sand beach. One side is soft sand where you can just relax, and the other side of the beach is pebble beach.
It is very unique and unusual island to see in Korea and I think in the world.
You can also hike up the mountain if you like hiking. I went half way through and kind of gave up lol.
How to Get to the Best Tongyeong Beach, Bijindo
Frst you have to go to Tongyeong ferry terminal. Don’t get confused with Marina Tongyeong ferry terminal.
Tongyeong Ferry terminal we need to get is in Jungang-dong.
There are normally plenty of seats even during peak season, so you can just buy the ticket at the terminal.
Things to Know Before Going to Bijindo
Here are few information you need to know before buying the ticket:
- Of course buy a round ticket.
- It takes about 40 minutes.
- round ticket is 1,6800 won
- There are two stops at Bijindo (Innner, 내항 / Outer, 외항). You have to get off at 외항

There are about 3 – 5 boats a day, so make sure to check the timetable. It changes by the weather.

After you get the ticket just go through the gate.
The boat is very interesting and different than normal boats you see.
There will be a small supermaket and a place where you can lie down (literally).
What to Do in Tongyeong Beach island, Bijindo
You can enjoy the beach or even go on hiking.
Because I went during winter, I decided to go on a hiking.
Ohh well, because of my lack of working out, I only went up half way.
But it was still beautiful and was able to about 10 other small islands around bijindo.

Apparently if you go up to the top, it is breathtaking.
It was too told for me to swim, but Bijindo has one of the nicest sand beach that goes about 500M.
One side is sand beach and the other side of the road is pebble beach.
There were people picking up something at the pebble beach, but not sure what it was.
Where to Stay in Bijindo
During peak season in summer, many travelers stay over night.
So are several accommodations you can choose from.
From my research, there are about 4 hotels that were looking clean and decent.
