Which Area to Stay in Tongyeong
Because Tonyeong is only small, there are only two neighbourhoods you need to consider (Especially if you don’t speak Korean).
- Jungang-Dong : Jungang-Dong is where almost 90% of tourists stay. It is where all the tourist attractions are at (i.e. tongyeong ferry terminal, Dongpilang Village, Turtle Ship Replicas, Jungagn Market). Here you will find a lot of cheap hotels in Tongyeong.
- Donam-Dong: This is where a lot of local Koreans go for staycation. If you have a car or don’t mind taking a taxi, here is where all the best hotels are at.
Jungang-Don Hotels
Hotel Pier 48
One thing you should know is that there is actually no 5 star hotels in Tongyeong.
But there are few cheap hotels in Tongyeong with excellent qualities.
Pier 48 is one of them. It has the quality of 5 star hotel, but the price of 3 star hotel.
It is also really close to Dongpilang village and Jungang market. But it is not a walking distance to tongyeong ferry terminal.

There used to be another nice hotel called Boutique hotel grey, but because of corona, they closed down. Hopefully, there would be a new hotel opening.

Friends of Loft
If you are looking a accommodation that is close to all of the tourist attractions, Friends of Loft is a good choice.
It is a Tongyeong hostel and a family business, so it feels very homey.
Some rooms are not the best, but if you choose the right ones, you will have a good experience.
You can also use the kitchen. If you are a student looking for cheap hotels in Tongyeong, this would be a great choice.

Donam-dong Hotels
Stanford Hotel & Resort Tongyeong
Like I said there isn’t many nice hotels in Jungang-dong area. But if you get out a little there are nice hotels.
The most famous hotel in Tongyeong is probably Standford hotel and resort Tongyeong.
It has an outdoor pool to a gym.
One thing is that make sure to book the ocean view. If you forgot to book it, make sure to get it when you check in.

Kumho Chungmu Marina Resort
Because Stanford hotel is where all the locals go for holidays, the price can be slightly expensive.
If you are looking for something cheaper, Kumo Marina resort is a good choice.
Unfortunately, they don’t have an outdoor pool and it does feel quite old.

Fortuna Hotel
Fortuna hotel is in between jungang-dont and donam-dong. If you don’t mind taking taxis around I would hightly recommend Fortuna hotel.
It is a brand new hotel and the ocean view is awesome.
They also have a rooftop and a nice indoor pool.
