As a fashion not-s0-foward person who only prefers comfortable style never heard of Blue Blue Japan before. I was just looking around at Opening Ceremony and saw it hanging – my favorite Hawaiian feel all the way style. After buying it and wearing it almost everyday, I fell in love with Blue Blue Japan, and I could see why there is a cult following. You can also read about Blue Blue Japan experience at Opening Ceremony here.
Blue Blue Japan is a Tokyo brand that has been around since the 90s. According to Mr.Porter,
The Tokyo brand launched in the early 1990s and gained a cult following for its signature use of natural indigo. Using traditional dyeing and construction techniques, each garment is built to develop a distinctive patina.
Blue Blue Japan’s Unique Indigo Dying Will Give Your Style Like a Nicely Aged Wine
The only problem with Blue Blue Japan is that the clothing is always way over my budget. A t-shirt could cost more than $150. It is because they use all the good materials. The one I’m wearing uses 100% Rayon which I love because it gives a silky feeling and is really soft (I am wearing a Tiger Printed Blue Blue Japan). You can read more about my love of rayon here and here. Blue Blue Japan also loves using 100% cotton for the tshirts which is my daily wear. Once you go 100% cotton, you never go back. Because of their unique dying technique, the strong blue color slowly fades as you wash them which gives a seasoned look over time. Here are some of the styles you should look at.
If It Is Too Expensive Wait for Their 70% Sale Either at Mr.Porter or Matches Fashion
Don’t be sad because it cost a fortune to buy one tshirt. When it is expensive like this, it also goes on sale hard too. I bought mine for $70 which originally sold for $200. If you are on top of the sales alert and be patient, you will be able to get it.
P.S. This is me at the Delano hotel posing. Sorry if I look super awkward If you are curious about the room and what it’s like to stay at Delano hotel in Miami check out my blog post here.
