Cabbages and Condoms in Thailand Might not Be for Everybody

If you Google “weirdest restaurant in the world,” Cabbages and Condoms will come up all the time. You are probably wondering if that is a real restaurant right now. Yes, it is. And it is damm romantic to eat there with a view of the beach.

Cabbages and Condoms in Pattaya is the Weirdest Restaurant in the World (Weirdest Name)

The slogan for the restaurant is “We guarantee you not to get pregnant.” So don’t you worry girls! Cabbages and Condoms is in Pattaya, Thailand. The sin city of Asia, Pattaya and the restaurant Cabbages and Condoms just fit right in.

Mechai Viravaidya, the ex-politician, wanted to improves the lives of Thai by bringing up the social issues from sexual health to anti corruption. With his quirkiness to approach problems he decided to open a restaurant called Cabbages and Condoms.

Cabbages and Condoms Offers a Mix of International to Thai Cuisine

According to Mechai, the reason he named it this why it when you go viagra in Thailand, you will also always find a vegetable shop right next to it. By the way, when you go to Cabbages and condoms, you have to walk a long path with all kinds of quirky signs. I don’t want to spoil it and you should see it yourself when you go. In the restaurant, you will see bunch of manequins dressed up with condoms and birth control pills. It was a kind-of-surprise because you see kids walking around with not even being surprised.

Because of the name, you will think the restaurant is tacky and out of style. But it is actually a nice romantic restaurant with beach front seats. We ordered bunch of thai cuisine and all of them were tasty. We had a fair amount of Khao Sois in Chiang Mai, and I can say that the Khao Sois at Cabbages and Condoms were pretty good.

The Food in Cabbages and Condoms Is a Thumbs Up, but the Slow Service is the Thumbs Down

The only issue was the service. They were all over the place and slow. Took 10 minutes to get a menu, and I had to go to the front to ask for the waiter 2 times. I am not sure if it was my impatience or the service was a bit quirky like the restaurant.

It is not everybody’s cup of tea, but if you visit Pattaya, you should def stop by for a meal. Also, they opened another branch in Bangkok if you are not visiting Pattaya.
