While staying in Playa Del Carmen, we decided to stay at the Hilton hotel, The Fives Downtown hotel & residence. It was a soft opening, so there were still some construction going on. I love going to soft opening hotels where you can still being built and come back a year later and see how it changed. 

This hotel was built by a Mexican family in Mexico and Hilton hotel took in the hotel branch. Because it is managed by the family, the quality and the service are over the top. 

LOCATION

It is in the heart of Playa Del Carmen downtown. So if you are looking to stay in the area, this is the perfect choice for you. Literally… It is still quite for being in the main area as well. 

ROOM

We stayed at the standard room and even the standard rooms are spacious. The bed is comfortable, and there are two lounging area. One is a sofa with a coffee table, and the other is chairs with a coffee table overlooking outside. 

There is a nice wooden table and a coffee machine. The interesting part is that there is a small kitchen, so if you don’t like the food in the neighborhood, you can always cook in the hotel. The bathroom has two sinks and a huge closet which is good for a couple. 

AMMENITIES and FACILITIES

There is a rooftop pool with a bar. It is not like the Thompson hotel rooftop pool but it is small and cozy. It is an infinity pool where you can see the open sea clearly. Downstairs, there is cute coffee shop totally dedicated Bob Marley. 

The gym carries the Techno Gym equipment which is excellent. 

FINAL THOUGHT

Overall, it is a hotel with everything you need. It is not like a boutique hotels that we usually stay but this is one of the nicest ones I’ve stayed in Playa Del Carmen. If you are looking for a bit more luxury, Grand Hyatt or Thompson hotel would be the best choice. I wrote a long post about all three hotels in my best hotels in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
