There are few things you need to know before going to Tokyo from buying Sim cards to currency exchange and Covid related documents.
What Documents You Need to Travel to Tokyo
First, you need to fill this form online, so you can save time when you arrive at the airport.
Unless, you will have stand on the side and do it as you see the line getting longer.
If you can’t fill all the forms cause it doesn’t let you, don’t worry. You can still go through.

You will probably stay on the “you couldn’t fill all the form” line, instead of the normal line.
You will get a little cute card about what to do in this covid times.
SIM Card
You can get roaming with your network company or pocket wifi, but I think the best is the buy Japanese SIM card.
I think pocket wifi is great to save money, but it is a burden cause you have to return it when you go back.

You can easily buy SIM card at the Haneda / Narita airport or even convenience stores like 7/11 or even online.
I think the easiest is to buy it at the airport.
If you arrive at the airport, you will see 10s of SIM card counters.
I went around several and took pictures of the pricing.
It varies on each counter but on average it will cost from 3,000 yen to 7,000 yen.
Some places will sell 3, 5, 8 days or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 days.

Currency
I just round the money, so you can just have an understanding of how much it is when you spend.
