Best Coffee Plantation Tours in Dalat, Vietnam

If you come to Vietnam, you will definitely notice the coffee culture. You think New York is crazy about coffees? NO! HCMC will make you surprise how much coffee shops there are. Literally every block will have at least two coffee shops.

Da Lat is an Hour Away from HCMC, and Known for All Year Around Spring Weather

Vietnam is the second biggest country to import coffee and Da Lat, Vietnam is one of the biggest town to harvest coffee beans. It is because of the geographical location being highland. Da Lat is only an hour flight from HCMC.

Because of Its Highland Weather, You Will See Coffee Plantation Everywhere

There are many tours from K’Ho Coffee, Cau Dat Plantation and Trai Ham Da Lat Weasel Coffee. But we chose La Viet as one of our local friend told us that it is the best and eco friendly. We will explain about the other coffee plantation tour later.

We also wrote the best things you can do ONLY in Dalat and best restaurants in Dalat. You should read these two posts before going to Dalat to have a better understanding of this beautiful town.

There Are Many Coffee Tours, but La Viet in Da Lat, Vietnam Stands Out

La Viet is a half coffee shop and half coffee roasting factory. They use their own coffee beans and they pride themselves for making it premium.

During the tour, you will learn that they sort out and check every coffee beans if they are any defects. And you could see why the coffee tastes much smother and cleaner.

La Viet Tour Is More Personal and Relatable Than Other Tours in Dalat, Vietnam

La Viet is relatively new compared to other coffee tours, but they will make sure you learn from A to Z about coffee in a very fun way. Hero and her friend were one of our guide and they told us from how they bring the coffee beans from the plantation to roasting and brewing the coffee.

You will sort out your coffee beans to get rid of the defects. We tried it ourselves and it is definitely time consuming but worth it (because they will pack your roasted beans to take it home, and you don’t want any defects in your roasted beans). Then we learn how to roast the beans and test it. I had to do it twice as I burnt the beans.

Then you learn all these exotic coffee machines and learn how to brew it. It was a great experience as I drink coffee everyday. You know I love holding the take away cup and strut around the city.
